Wide Drill Head and Guide Rods
Extra wide multi-drill spindle heads often need guide rods or something similar to prevent movement. On a drill press, mill or other similar unit, a loose quill that rotates only a fraction of a degree can cause a wide head to move quite a bit at its ends. Many drilling machines have tolerances that are tight enough to limit this while others have either a quill stabilizer device or are simply too loose for wide heads in many cases. When your job requires tolerances that are very precise and there is any possibility that the multiple spindle drill press may have some movement, AutoDrill offers rod guide holes in the housing of the multiple spindle drill head itself. These guides, often lined with bronze bushings or with a set-screw anchoring system for easy removal of the rods, can be easily added during the head’s manufacturing process and help eliminate any issues.
