Multiple Spindle Products can be divided into the three basic categories:
The first and most common style multi-drill head are the Metalworking Drill Heads. Our collet style heads use industry standard ER style spindles and collets for high precision, low cost, and worldwide availability. Other spindle styles are also available upon request including automotive (ASA), Morse Taper, Jacobs Taper and others.
The ER style spindles are by far the most common for typical applications. Drilling many holes at once with a multiple output drilling machine is extremely efficient use of your equipment and
human resources.
Metalworking Multi-Spindle Heads are available in these configurations:
Adjustable Multi-Drill Spindle Heads
Adjustable multiple spindle heads or multi prong tools and drills are often suitable for equally spaced hole patterns only and are available with two, three and four spindles for in-line and bolt circle hole patterns. Click here to view how they are adjusted. Many of these units are stock items and AutoDrill stocks spare parts in case of a machine crash, etc. They may be adapted to almost any conventional drilling machine. Jump to our selection of adjustable multi-drill heads for more details and capacity information. All the spindles operate in the same rotation for drilling, reaming, tapping and light plunge milling. Many unique uses have also been applied for these versatile products.
Fixed Pattern Many Spindle Heads
For any irregular hole pattern. They are custom designed and built with short lead times for your exact needs. The ability to custom design a head to your pattern makes these compact units very desirable for many people. Our multi-drill application sheet may be used to send information about your project and receive prompt product cost, delivery and technical help.
Offset Spindle Heads
Problem hole locations, as near an obstruction, may be drilled with our offset spindle heads. The output spindle or spindles a100_0251re not in the same line as the input of the head. This can move the drive mechanism away from the obstruction to solve many space related problems. We can offer adjustable and fixed pattern heads for applications such as this.
The second type of device we offer is the Woodworking (Boring) Style Heads – Available with 7/16-14 and other threaded spindles, quick release tooling chucks and other common woodworking tool holding options. Woodworking multi-drill heads such as line boring units or gang drills are available in most of the same configurations and patterns as our metalworking heads.
Finally, we offer a wide range of Custom Designed Gear Heads or Cluster Drills – Many customers have chosen to purchase heads with specially shaped housings, custom output spindles or even multiple style outputs on a single head. We love solving these manufacturing challenges! One of the most common is the multiple spindle tapping head for a drill press where a common drill press can be modified to tap two, three or even four or more holes at a time with our product. Tapping two holes at once or more is highly efficient.
