Three Spindle Drill Head on a Motor
We often receive requests to add multiple spindle drilling operations to existing machine centers or drilling processes. A recent request was to add a separate drive capable of drilling as many holes as possible in a single stroke. The process required drilling thousands of holes on a single part used in the automotive manufacturing process. AutoDrill supplied a Three Spindle Drill Head, driven by a single motor, to mount within the existing set-up. The cycle time for the entire drilling process was decreased by around 50% with this multiple hole drilling head. The customer decided that three spindles was the best multi-drill spindle arrangement based on the pattern requirements. The total cost was less than $2500 USD. AutoDrill has provided up to 36 spindles for similar operations. The customer’s requirement for a simple solution for a multi-drill head was accomplished with this gang drill head set-up.
